Our first port of call is the small town of São Brás de Alportel, quite typical of the Algarve in its architecture and activities. Here we explore a local bakery renowned for its traditional produce such as carob bread, almond cakes and honey cakes and the local carob liquor, which you can also sample. Then we visit a cork factory. The cork that is harvested in the surrounding area is brought to this factory, prepared, treated and then exported. There is also time to visit the fascinating São Brás Ethnographic Museum. Moving on, we go to Salir, a bucolic village where you can see the remnants of the ancient castle and its imposing walls. At the end of the walk, you will have an hour of free time in Ferragudo to walk or eat (not included).
