We will leave our meeting point in Oviedo to head towards Cangas de Onís where we will do the first one to contemplate the famous Roman Bridge , take some photos and take a short break before starting our Ascent to the Lakes along the famous road through which the Vuelta Ciclista a España runs. We have exclusive access to the Picos de Europa National Park so you won't have to worry about a thing. At the end of the spectacular climb along the 12 km of mountain road, we will arrive at the Covadonga Lakes where we will take a gentle walk to contemplate this impressive Natural Monument, the Buferrera Mines and a Shepherds' cabin . After finishing this walk and close to lunchtime, we will go down to the Sanctuary of Covadonga where the Holy Cave and the Basilica are located and we will leave you free time to eat. We will take two walks through the municipality of Cudillero that will lead us to discover the wonders and nooks and crannies of the area. Along the fishing paths we will arrive at the Vidio Lighthouse from which we will see the highest cliffs in Asturias and we will walk next to the lighthouse. We will continue along the coast until we reach the most beautiful beach in Asturias, the shell-shaped Playa del Silencio , where you can get your feet wet and take a walk among its polished colored rocks. At noon, we will arrive at Cudillero, an old whaling town built on the side of a mountain as an amphitheater over its port, where we will learn about customs related to the sea and fishing its beautiful colored houses. Join us on this tour through the impressive Somiedo Natural Park , a park declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2000 . This park is also one of the first protected natural areas in Asturias , dating back to 1988 , and one of the best preserved in the northern part of the peninsula . With its 29, 164 hectares , Somiedo Natural Park offers a unique environment , perfectly representing the ethnographic culture of the Asturian mountains . Our journey will begin by heading to the Alto de la Farrapona mountain pass . Along the way, we will immerse ourselves in the wild beauty of the rocky mountains and pass through an area with several viewing points for bear watching . Once we reach Alto de la Farrapona , we will begin a walking route to visit Lake La Cueva , which will offer us spectacular views surrounded by mountains . Next, we will move on to Veigas to visit the Somiedo Ecomuseum . Here, we will learn more about traditional trades, transhumance , and the famous thatched cottages , which are typical vegetation-roofed constructions found in the area’s homes.
