Located at the centre of Beijing City is Tiananmen Square, where you can visit Tiananmen Tower , monument to the people's heroes, the great hall of the people, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall and see the national flag raising ceremony. Thousands of people come to the square every day. The spacious square was originally meant to demonstrate majestic imperial power , walled in on the eastern, western and southern sides, shutting out common people. It is an ideal place for people to observe celebratory occasions or fly kites. Tian’anmen Square contains the monuments to the heroes of the revolution, the National Museum of China, and the Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, where your guide will explain all about these monuments to you. We then move on to The Forbidden City which was designed to be the centre of the ancient, walled city of Beijing. The Forbidden City remains important in the civic scheme of Beijing. The central north–south axis remains the central axis of Beijing . This axis extends to the south through Tiananmen gate to Tiananmen Square, the ceremonial centre of the People's Republic of China, and on to Yongdingmen. To the north, it extends through Jingshan Hill to the Bell and Drum Towers. This axis is not exactly aligned north–south but is tilted by slightly more than two degrees. Traditionally, the Forbidden City is divided into two parts, the inner court and the outer Court. The outer court or front court includes the southern sections and was used for ceremonial purposes. The Inner Court or Back Palace includes the northern sections and was the residence of the Emperor and his family, and was used for day-to-day affairs of state. We will pick you up from your hotel at 5. 30pm and make our way to the Quanjude. Quanjude is one most famous duck restaurants in Beijing, set up in the 1860's during the Qing dynasty, it has a unique taste that nobody can resist. Quanjude has got a name for itself both at home and abroad by offering traditional roasted ducks. The ducks served here are hand-made with knowledge passed down by generations of royal palace chefs. Reddish brown, the roasted ducks have a glossy silk-like skin that will attract people's appetite when they look at them as it is tender and crisp. Quanjude keep strict standards for choosing the ducks, it uses an oven without a door. After a kind of dressing being spread all over a duck, it will be hooked up in the oven over the flame coming up directly from the burning of the fruit-tree wood and it will be ready in 40 minutes. After roasted and dried, the duck will look brightly dark red, shining with oil, crisp skin and tender meat. Not many people can resist its temptation. Mutianyu offers an alternative Great Wall experience compared to the popular Badaling section . This portion of China’s ancient engineering marvel features an optional cable car ride or an opportunity to climb more than 1, 400 steps to the top. Mutianyu Great Wall is much steeper than Badaling Great Wall, and a more challenging climb. This section is older than Badaling and features outer and inner parapets. There are 22 watch-towers in the 2250-meter-long Mutianyu Great Wall, and the highest one is 540 meters above sea level. This section of the wall is also surrounded by woodland and streams. The Great Wall takes on different looks in different seasons. In spring, flowers are blooming. In summer, the Great Wall is lush and green. In winter, the Great Wall is covered with white snow. However, the Great Wall’s most charming season is autumn, when fruits ripen and leaves of gorgeously diverse colour fall at this photogenic spot. Our next stop is a visit to a nearby Cloisonne Factory. The art of Cloisonne is a unique combination of sculpture, painting, porcelain making and coppersmithing that is said to have originated in Beijing during the Yuan Dynasty. To make a Cloisonne piece, a copper body is first made, and then intricate engravings are made with a copper wire. Different colored pigments are then applied to the engravings. Finally, the piece is fired and polished.

Beijing is an enormous city of nearly 15 million people, with one of the oldest cultures on Earth. This tour begins at Tiananmen Squa re and the more recent page from China’s history book, Tiananmen Square and the Cultural Revolution of Chairman Mao Zedong. We will pick you up from your hotel at 7am from the hotel to the Jinshanling Great Wall with a local English speaking guide and driver. The Jinshanling Great Wall was initially built from 1368 to 1389 in the Ming dynasty , and in 1567 or 1570 rebuilding of the wall was mainly directed by General Qi Jiguang. The Wall is about 21 to 24 feet high and 15 to 18 feet wide, which is made of brick and stone. The Jinshanling Great Wall has an elevation of 2100 feet, there is a cableway up to the top. The fact is that it is very easy to walk up to the Great Wall, hiking about four hours. Each tower has its unique features and look, as its relatively less crowded at Jinshanling Great Wall, it is a nice place to explore around Beijing. And 13 of the 16 Ming emperors have their tombs situated just outside the city. We have combined two of our most popular destinations north of Beijing into one unforgettable tour. Since the Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC - 476 BC) and the Warring States Period (476 BC - 221 BC), Badaling became a very important military strategic place. Many incomplete parts of the wall were proven to have been built in the Warring States Period. Here you will have the opportunity to climb up either the North or South Face of the Wall.
