The glaciers of the Cerro Mayo and Cerro Negro are located within Seno Mayo of the Argentino Lake and the National Park Los Glaciares. The only way to access them is by lake. Starting from Puerto Argentino or Puerto Moreno, we will sail through the Témpanos Channel and enter the Seno Mayo of Lake Argentino. We will disembark in Bahía Toro and, accompanied by a guide, we will make an interpretive walk through the Patagonian Andean Forest (composed of guindos, canelos, lengas and ñires) until arriving at a specimen of guindo centenario that presents a trunk of more than three meters of diameter. Then we will go through the forest until we reach a stream, which is fed by a waterfall, from where we can observe a formation of calcareous rocks whose palisade is approximately 180 meters high and 100 meters wide. We will remain at this point until we return to the ship that will take us to the next destination. Starting from Bahía Toro, we will continue sailing through the Seno Mayo of Lake Argentino from where we will observe the hanging glaciers of Cerro Mayo and Cerro Negro. Departing from Bajo de la Sombra Port, we will arrive at the world-famous Perito Moreno Glacier approximately 5 miles from our departure point. Upon arrival, enjoy a 40-minute walk across the Rico Arm to reach the glacier. We will then be given crampons (special metal spikes worn on boots for traction). Then the adventure really begins with a fascinating 2-hour walk across the glacier. At the end of the walk, we will be offered to toast to our adventure with a glass of whiskey paired with ice from the glacier. Once finished we will make our way back on a road that cuts between a forest of lengas and the pier. Crossing the Rico Arm again, we will be lead to the footbridge in front of the glacier.
