    An Evening with Kristin Hersh

Please Please You, Hey! Manchester & Brudenell Presents... Over the last three decades, Kristin Hersh’s prolific career has seen her heralded queen of the alternative release. Returning with a new solo record ‘Clear Pond Road’ released in September 2023, the album is a cinematic road trip; a series of personal vignettes from a fiercely independent auteur, plush with layers of atonal, edgy-dreamy strings and mellotron. It’s a sensuous, life-affirming statement, a very personal memoir; it’s the a blossoming of a true icon of independence. Hard Rock Cafe Manchester – skip the line

The Hard Rock Cafe Manchester has memorabilia from The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Oasis and Elvis Presley along with more contemporary items including stage costumes worn by Natasha Bedingfield and Arctic Monkeys. Like all great revolutions, the Hard Rock Cafe wasn’t meant to succeed. It was 1971 and as the Swinging Sixties had given way to the Super Seventies, fashions and tastes were changing. Two hungry young Americans were in London and couldn’t find a decent place to eat a decent burger… so they opened up a joint. Their landlord didn’t think it would last and gave them just a six-month lease. Four decades later, there almost 200 Hard Rock Cafes in more than 50 countries worldwide. The first T-shirt hit the streets in ‘74 and the first piece of memorabilia came, fittingly, by chance in ‘79 when Eric Clapton asked to hang his Lead II Fender guitar over his favourite bar stool and mark as his spot. Today, the rock 'n' roll collection has more than 74, 000 pieces and is the largest of its kind. By 1982, the Hard Rock Cafe had gone global and the rest, as they say, is history (that’s still being written)! The Tales from the Dales & Bronte Country - Full Day Small Group Tour

The Tales from the Dales & Bronte Country - Full Day Small Group Tour

Say farewell to Manchester... for today, we’re heading into a fictional land, of sorts. This tour is for our literature fans out there, and our first stop on the tour is known as 'the hillside home' of the Brontë family, the town of Haworth. Yep. Those Brontë sisters we know and love. Wander the town they once called home, soak up the history. You may even be able to visit the former Brontë home which is now The Brontë Parsonage Museum (however, please note their opening times vary and may not always be open while on tour). As for the lovely town of Haworth itself? Quaint, quiet, and quality... the essentials for any English village. You’ll delight in the shops, cafes, and cobblestoned streets. Wandering around, maybe you’ll see why the Brontë sisters were inspired by the community they grew up in. And for fans of the series The Railway Children, make sure to check out the steam railway at Oakworth Station just down the road, which was featured in the production. Grab yourself a bite for lunch at one of the many cafes or get some takeaway and enjoy pretty views as you wander the area. Our drive continues through the lovely landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales. It’s a breathtaking view to be sure. Meandering hills, craggy moorlands, and romantic valleys stretch out all around you. But what you take notice of most is the limestone. From cliffs to caves, outcrops to scars, this moody rock is found at every turn. We arrive at our next destination, the market town of Grassington. Often referred to as the 'beating heart of the Yorkshire Dales', you may recongise it as the fictional market town of Darrowby in the series of All Creatures Great & Small. And just a short five-minute walk from the car park, you'll find the beauty of Linton Falls. If there's been plenty of rain (it is the UK, after all), you'll hear their thunderous call as you approach. You have free time in Grassington to explore and grab a bite to eat. And just to really showcase the beauty of this region, it's next onto Aysgarth Falls. This three-stepped waterfall has drawn people to it for over 200 years, including the famous, from poet William Wordsworth to painter JMW Turner. You might also recognise them from the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Now it's time for something a little different... but perhaps even more exciting. Cheese. We arrive at Wensleydale Creamery , custodians of a 1000-year-old heritage. From their iconic, creamy, crumbly classic Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese to the rich, buttery flavours of Fountains Gold, this is a cheese-lovers dream. Our final stop of the day is the stunning Ribblehead Viaduct. A proud display of Victorian engineering, this impressive statement structure has incredible views of the Three Peaks mountains. After a few photos and a bit of awe, you jump back on the bus and head back to Manchester, arriving in the early evening.

Lost in Beauty: Chatsworth and Peak District - Small Group Tour

Come and explore the incredible Chatsworth House, a stunning art-filled gem right in the heart of the magnificent Peak District National Park. Let your imagination run wild! That's what Chatsworth House is all about – a house of dreamers and creators. That is your destination today! First, though, you must drag yourself away from vibrant Manchester. It will be worth it, though, since you enter one of Britain's most famously beautiful regions. The Peak District National Park is rich in limestone, moorland plateaus, iconic villages, and... harrowing stories of murder and death. From the Christmas Eve murder in Hassop in 1866 to the Legend of Lovers Leap, it makes one wonder... is there something in the water? We'll make a few stops along the way before reaching the impressive Chatsworth House. You'll have several hours here to explore. What you do and see is up to you. Maybe you'll take in the beauty of the estate's gardens. Maybe you simply can't miss the collection of masterpieces inside, artworks from Rembrandt, Reynolds, and Veronese. Maybe the kids are begging you to head straight for the farmyard and playground, because who doesn't love cows and a zip line? You'll need to refuel after taking it all in. There are plenty of places at the estate to stop for a treat, whether you just need a quick bite or a full meal. Leaving Chatsworth House, don't fret, because your time in the Peak District isn't over yet. Your last stop before heading home is in the lovely spa town of Buxton. Walking among the ornamental gardens and world-famous Georgian and Victorian architecture, you'll come away from this vibrant town refreshed and inspired. You arrive back in Manchester in the early evening.

    Manchester Private Walking Tour

Manchester is famous for being one of the world capitals of football (soccer), but there is much more to see here. For example, Chinatown, the second largest in the UK and the third-largest in Europe, take a peek at the Town Hall, built-in 1877 during the industrial revolution and one great example of neo-gothic architecture. The façade is so similar to the Palace of Westminster that it was even used as a substitute for the movie “The Iron Lady”, by Margaret Thatcher. Another neo-gothic building is John Rylands Library, baptized with the name of Manchester’s foremost textile manufacturer, first multi-millionaire and philanthropist. And don’t miss Manchester’s Cathedral, many times restored during the 19th century and following the damage of the IRA bombing. This medieval church testifies to the existence of the city as a Saxon settlement and is the seat of the Bishop of Manchester. The seventh most populated city in England, it’s also considered a modern hub, but it was once also one of the most important textile centers on the planet. The unshaken confidence of Manchesters derives also from the city’s status as the pillar of the British Industrial Revolution, and all other social revolutions that preceded it. Today, though, this is a city of modernity, creativity and progress, where the first computer to store programs and to have memory was created, and it boasts the oldest public library of the English language in the world. You will see : *Piccadilly Gardens *Chinatown *Manchester Town Hall *John Rylands Library *Royal Exchange Theatre *St Ann's Church *New Cathedral Street *Manchester Cathedral You will learn about : *Rise of Manchester from a town to a metropole *Saxons and Normans *Rich medieval past *Protestant revolution *Industrial Revolution *Victorian Age *Blitzkrieg and Second World War Inclusions: Guide Exclusions: Entrance fee Gratuities Important Info: N/A Redeem Info: VOCUHERLESS - Printed voucher or E-voucher.
