Merrick Watts: An Idiot's Guide to Wine - Volume 3
Fri, Sep 11, 2026
Merrick Watts returns to The Rechabite with a brand-new wine tasting comedy show. Mez (who, surprisingly, has genuine wine chops and, unsurprisingly, is an idiot) has been busy meticulously “researching” new wines for this latest show. It’s hard work, but someone’s got to do it. For the uninitiated, An Idiot’s Guide to Wine is a wine tasting unlike any other. Each guest sips six wines, handpicked by Mez, while he dishes out wine facts, food pairing suggestions and jokes about the French. Previous shows have been performed at arts festivals, wineries, town halls, casinos and New Zealand shopping malls, but The Rechabite is the most fun of them all. This is the perfect way to spend an afternoon or evening, with great mates, great wines and great comedy. In Volume 3, expect unexplored varietals, fresh wine regions and new stories. Everything’s new… except the idiot. SHOW 1: FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER 6:30PM (DOORS: 6PM) SHOW 2: SATURDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 2PM (DOORS: 1:30PM) SHOW 3: SATURDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 5PM (DOORS: 4:30PM) SPACE: THE RECHABITE HALL VENUE INFO ALWAYS WAS, ALWAYS WILL BE. Luke Severeid: Here To F@#K Spiders
Sun, Sep 13, 2026
Self-described as a “bald and bearded, metal-headed, hill hiking, dopamine dealing, loud sounding man”, Seattle-based comedian LUKE SEVEREID has made a name for himself around the globe, fusing comedy with a love for heavy metal music and unique insights on life and the world swirling around him. Having made an impact doing stand-up on the 2025 edition of KNOTFEST AUSTRALIA, the funnyman today announces his return Down Under, announcing the aptly titled ‘HERE TO F#@K SPIDERS’ tour for September! SEVEREID’s comedic style has been described as “ aggressively absurd” and “ idiotically insightful” ; his material has fast grown an online audience of over half a million followers, with shows around the world bringing him notoriety and popularity in equal measure. Among his recent accomplishments, SEVEREID has recorded two comedy specials in Minneapolis, MN that are to be released exclusively through KNOTFEST – the first filmed stand up comedy specials to be hosted by the online media and culture platform. With his tour of Australia and New Zealand adding to an impressive scorecard, SEVEREID is only continuing to cement his status as a comedy talent to pay attention to. Don’t miss your chance to catch him this September! A message from Luke: "I am VERY excited to return to Australia. Had a blast last year when I came out as part of Knotfest and I’m beyond stoked to be coming back. Aussie crowds are far and away some of the best crowds I’ve ever performed in front of. It’s like telling jokes to rooms full of my country’s cousins who get to say the C word with complete impunity and do so with gleeful grins. Looking forward to seeing yall again this September!
