Visit to Fishermen Village at Vizhinjam
Vizhinjam village should never be missed if you ever drop in to Kovalam. It is situated at a distance of nearly 3 km from Kovalam. This village which has a great deal of history to murmur is credited of having lots of dazzling places in Kovalam. Vizhinjam today is a busy port flooded with fishing boats and you can also see lots of fishermen venturing into the distant sea. The village which is rustic and earthy is very much different from Kovalam in diverse aspects. Here you can see the real-life of fishermen who push their boats into the sea for fishing at dawn and reach back by dusk. Cycling Tour at Kovalam
After picking you up at your hotel, you will be transferred to the Bicycle point in the Pachalloor area, 4 km from Kovalam and 8km from Trivandrum. You will be welcomed with a drink/tea before starting cycling through the village road. Our first stop will be at a local temple which is dedicated to Goddess Kaali. From here we continue to Vellayani lake which is the largest freshwater body providing drinking water to the entire city. The Jungle Book Excursion - Neyyar
A 6 km trek to Meenmutty falls from Neyyar is perhaps the best trekking trail in the Sanctuary. You see Athirumala, which is the base camp for the Agastyakoodam pilgrimage on the way. After the long walk through the dense forests, you will be greeted by the voice of a cascade even from a distance – the Meenmutty falls. After another two kilometers of walking, you will reach the Kombaikani waterfalls. Close by is a forest camp house, where trekkers can take rest. Forest guides and cook will accompany you on this trek, which requires the permission of the forest department.
