Day 1| Madrid – Salamanca – Porto We begin our adventure by departing from Madrid and heading first to Salamanca , where you can enjoy some free time in this university city and World Heritage Site of great architectural and artistic wealth. We then travel to the Portuguese border, arriving in Porto and our accommodation. Accommodation: 4-star hotel or Superior 4-star hotel depending on the option selected. Overnight in Porto with breakfast included. Day 2| Porto We'll start the day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before setting off on an amazing panoramic sightseeing tour of Porto , a World Heritage Site! We'll admire the magnificent Cathedral , the impressive Stock Exchange building and the beautiful Santa Clara church. Then, we'll enjoy a different perspective of the city along the Douro River and discover the historic heritage by visiting one of the well-known Port wine cellars for a wine tasting . Day 3| Porto – Coimbra – Fatima Get your day off to a great start with breakfast before we head off to the incredible city of Coimbra , home to one of Europe's oldest and most prestigious universities and the birthplace of the enchanting Fado music . We'll then have some free time to explore before continuing to Fatima, a place absolutely brimming with religious significance. Here, you'll find an awe-inspiring basilica and the Cova da Iria, a site said to have been the location of the Virgin Mary's appearances. The Chapel of the Apparitions , the heart of the sanctuary, is home to the tombs of the three shepherds, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta. Day 4| Fatima – Batalha - Nazare – Alcobaça – Lisbon We embark on a journey to the awe-inspiring Batalha Monastery , a true masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline style, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site! Our next stop is the charming fishing town of Nazaré, where you'll have some free time to explore its beauty. After that, we'll head to Alcobaça , another World Heritage Site, where you'll be amazed by its Gothic church and Cistercian monastery , dating back to the 12th century. Finally, we'll arrive in the vibrant Portuguese capital, Lisbon, where you'll find yourself immersed in the lively atmosphere of this incredible city! Day 5| Lisbon After a delicious breakfast, we'll set off on an amazing tour of the beautiful city of Lisbon , once known as Olissipo. We'll explore its stunning main squares and avenues, the impressive Belem Tower, the magnificent Jerónimos Monastery (exterior only), and the spectacular Monument to the Discoverers. Then, we'll have the afternoon to ourself to discover the city's charming corners, like the historic Alfama district , or to opt in for an exciting excursion to the awe-inspiring World Heritage Sites of Sintra and Cascais! Day 6| Lisbon – Merida – Madrid We enjoy our last breakfast at the hotel before we set off towards Merida, a World Heritage Site . Merida, the capital of Extremadura, is known for its rich historical heritage, including its well-preserved Roman ruins: the theatre, the amphitheatre, the Roman bridge and more! Enjoy some free time before we make our way back to Madrid. Important information The superior hotel category tends to be in areas located more centrally.
